West of Eden - Harry Harrison

Imagine if you will the Earth today had dinosaurs not been killed off en mass. This is essentially the science fiction world that Harry Harrison has dreamed up. Dinosaurs were never destroyed and a cold blooded race of humanoid-like dinosaurs, called Yilane, now rule the world. Humans occupy but a very small portion of the world, existing as hunter gatherer societies. The Yilane have set up a matriarchal society in which they rule over dinosaurs that do their bidding. When the Yilane decide to move their civilization to a new continent, they eventually cross path with a clan of humans. What ensues can only be referred to as an all out battle royal!

If you have read Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel, then you will certainly enjoy the world of West of Eden. It is a well thought out and organized attempt at described a reptilian dominated world. If on the other hand you think that sci-fi is all child's play, then obviously you wouldn't enjoy this series. Stay tuned for part 2 and 3!!

What happens now, and next to now, is of no importance as long as tomorrow's-tomorrow is the same as yesterday's yesterday.
