Happy Anniversary

Well, it has been just about 1 year of blogging. When it started out, I wondered how it would turn out. Certainly, given that it has given me an outlet with which to express my lyrical tendencies, it has been a great success. I often look forward to my next blog - unfortunately, I often lament not blogging more. I have about 100 posts in 2007, which is basically 2 a week. Given that I had 1 post a week for book reviews, that only leaves 1 post per week for non-literati comments. In one sense, hearing from me once a week is not bad. Many journalists have one main editorial a week. But they usually write for many outlets or else cover many beats.

Let's not kid ourselves - I don't get paid to write. Wish that it were so. I'm not going to make the mistake of setting myself a goal for 2008. Better to just let the words do that talking. I will state that on many fronts, although the words were absent, the thoughts were in full force. Performance enhancing drugs is a big topic that I could speak on ad infinitum. With the summer Olympics slated for this year, I won't be able to ignore these subjects for much longer.

Politics may not be what my readers want, but in honesty, I write for myself - not for you. I am glad that you read - in fact I am humbled that you keep reading. Your readership means more than I could ever express - for that I thank you. But I know that you expect more from me. I am here to say that I expect more from myself. When I am doing this review in another 12 months, I would hope that there is more on the political front. I would also like to comment more on sports - and certainly will with the expected Chinese dominance in Beijing. And of course, I know you have waited too long for my views on peanut allergies. For this alone I say, watch your nuts for 2008 - i'm going in for the low blows!

Now, as a 'stay-at-home mom' (and I mostly 'stay-at-home') I really appreciate your thoughts Richard. They let me see into the 'outside world' that I have currently taken a hiatus from. Keep up the great writing. I truly enjoy all of your musings. I especially enjoy your book reviews - lets me know what not to waste my time on...if you can really waste time reading...
