Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen

I open up the 2008 literary calendar with a bang - or is it a big top. Well, that just doesn't sound correct, lets go with a bang. As this is our next book club book, I don't want to reveal too much. Safe to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and hope that it will be a harbinger of good reading for the year that is to come. I will only state that Sara Gruen is fantastic - at least in this novel - as a dialogue writer. Of course, the protagonist of the novel went to Cornell, so I may be a little bit biased! Yet, I put forth in my defense that this is tempered by my hatred of Depression era clowns.

Pffffft. Carried water for the elephants indeed. Do you have any idea how much an elephant drinks?
