Singing the blues

They were so close. As I watched the Score's broadcast of the Queen's vs. Wilfrid Laurier football game, it was announced that the University of Toronto varsity Blues football team were up 20 to 18 versus their cross town Rivals, the University of York Yoemen (or whatever this pathetic team calls themselves). There was only 2 minutes to go. However, this 2 minutes seemed to be too much, as York kicked a field goal with 39 seconds remaining to take the lead 21-20. Toronto marched down the field only to miss a 39 yard field goal and thus lost the game.

This pushed Toronto's losing streak to 46 games. I was all set to come home and write them a congratulatory note. All my best laid plans are wasted. At what point do I write a scathing indictment of the UofT football program? How long do we have to wait for a victory? Considering the fact that they lost to their cross town cousins of futility, things don't look good for a victory this season. The record for putridness is 47 I believe. So in 2 weeks we'll all be able to collectively laugh at the university the Maclean's ranks 1st but that football pundits rank last.
